Boosting Clientele by 'Graming

How leveraging Instagram attracted more clients for our business.

Wash Weekly

Hi Wash Weekly Family.

Instagram is a great platform to acquire new clients for your business.

We’ve been using it since 2015 to get more people in the store (and more money in our tills!).

In today’s issue, I’m going to share the step-by-step process we used to build an audience on Instagram that turned into paying customers.

Buckle up! There’s a lot of advice here to grow your business.

Set Up Your Profiles

  1. Create an Instagram and Facebook account.

  2. Set your accounts as a business account. This will give you access to better analytics and features like selling products and services right online.

  3. Complete the profile for your business. We recommend:

    1. Image or logo

    2. Name of your business

    3. Username that matches your business name

    4. Use the bio section to list your services, especially anything unique about your laundromat

    5. Add a link to your website, landing page or your order system

    6. Contact information, especially if you do pick up and delivery

  4. Create your highlights - this is the area between your profile and feed grid. We do:

    1. Client testimonials

    2. Before and after highlights of sneaker cleaning

    3. Sneakers we have for sale

    4. Reviews on Yelp, Google, and Facebook

Posting Content

Once you have your profiles set up, it’s time to start creating content.

This is where most business owners get overwhelmed. There’s a lot of advice online about what you should post, how often, when you should post, even ideas of what works and doesn’t.

Ultimately, the goal here is to figure out:

  • What works for you

  • What you can be consistent with

  • What your audience will appreciate

  • What will people a true understanding of what you offer them and how it will make their lives better

We started by posting anything and everything around the store that dealt with clothes, fashion, the team members, and the community.

The more we posted, the more we realized what our audience wanted to see.

Now, we settled in on posting images of completed laundry and the team interacting with clients in the store.

The best advice on creating content I can give you:

  • Create in batches through the week

  • Use Facebook Creator to schedule it

  • Figure out your businesses voice and stick to it

  • Create content that includes people and faces your clients interact with in your business

Then you don’t have to worry about posting content when you’re busy.

Instagram Ads

Once we gained some traction, we started running Instagram ads.

They are pretty easy to set-up and manage and get your business in front of people who may not be following your account.

Here are some important tips to know:

  • Choose a target audience in your geographic areas (no need to promote your business to someone across the country)

  • Choose an age range that fits who regularly comes to your business

  • Create an engaging ad

Hiring a Content Creator

We hired someone to work with us full-time to take pictures and make video content that we can post.

There is an economic cost here that you might not be ready to take on when you’re just getting started.

You might want to consider hiring someone part time for a few hours a week or seeing if a current employee wants a few more hours worth of work.

Contests and Giveaways

We ran contests and giveaways featuring promotions and discount coupons codes that clients could redeem in store.

This also allowed us to track the performance of our Instagram account.

Collaborations

Lastly, we did collaborations with other Instagram accounts where we would promote each other’s businesses on our own accounts.

Obviously, we didn’t do this with other laundromats.

But I highly encourage you to do it with other businesses in your area and attract similar clientele, such as:

  • Barber shops and beauty salons

  • Bakeries

  • Grocery stores

  • Supermarkets

  • Delis

  • Cafes & Coffee shops

  • Fashion

  • Retail

  • Vintage stores and thrift shops

  • And More!

Follow these steps to start attracting clients from Instagram!
