šŸ’¬Texting 1, 2, 3...

Use SMS to market your laundry business.

Wash Weekly

Hi Wash Weekly Family.

One way you can market your laundry business is through SMS — what most people call ā€œtextingā€.

SMS is an effective way to communicate with your current and potential customers. Just look at these stats:

  • 1 in 3 consumers checks their text notifications within one minute of receiving a text.

  • Over half of consumers (51%) reply to a text message within 1-2 minutes.

  • Over half of consumers check their text messages 11 times a day or more.

  • In 2022, 70% of consumers opted in to receive texts from businesses.

You’re likely already using texting in your business.

Most laundry operators use SMS for:

  • letting the client know their order is ready

  • reminder to pickup their overdue order

  • sending ticket / receipts

Those are good core ways to use texting in your business, but I recommend going deeper and using SMS in 3 ways:

  • Get Data

  • Acquire New Clients

  • Market to Existing Clients

Let’s look at some examples from each of those categories.

Get Data

Gathering data about your potential and current clients allows you to better understand, reach out, and get them to buy new or better packages from you.

SMS allows you to send:

  • Client Surveys

  • Client Support

  • Employee Recruitment

  • Feedback

  • Personal Messages (to employees and clients)

Acquire New Clients

SMS is a great way to engage with and acquire new clients.

A few examples include:

  • Text Clubs

  • Promotions

  • Quick Signups

  • Answering Questions

  • Generate Excitement

Market to Existing Clients

You can also use SMS to retain and upsell to existing clients. Delighting and making them aware of your other services is a great way to make more money.

Examples include:

  • Text Contests

  • Promotions and Sales

  • Re-engage (when an order hasn’t been placed in 30, 45, or 60 days)

  • Announcements

  • Building Relationships

Now, I don’t mean doing this all through individual texts.

Subscribing to an SMS marketing software platform will enable you to try all of these examples quickly and easily.

Just set it up, create your message, and send — everyone on your list will get the message.

You can even port your existing landline number into the software or register a new local number, toll-free number, or dedicated short code (a 5 or 6 digit number that is used by organizations to send text messages at scale).

Here’s why you should start using SMS:

  • easy for people to opt into your list with keywords and shortcodes

  • fast delivery

  • higher open rate than email

  • more personal

  • you can get very creative with messaging, even incorporate video and images using MMS

You’ll be able to provide a better service and make more money.
